Casualties/ Destruction:
When the first atomic bomb was dropped on the city of Hiroshima, no one could estimate or even imagine what the death toll and destruction rates would be. There had never been an atomic bomb dropped on a city so they could only guess on how big the range of the bomb would have. Even when the atomic bomb was dropped it is very difficult to figure out how many deaths were caused by bomb because of the extensive fires which burned many of the bodies but the “Manhattan Engineer District's” best estimates were that in Hiroshima the dead amounted to 66,000 and the injured numbered 69,000. The total casualty count estimated in Hiroshima was 135,000 from a population of 255,000. This was mirrored in Nagasaki which was dropped just days later when the total count was 64,000 of a population just under 200,000. When looking at the destruction of the terrible bomb the cities were completely decimated taking out buildings and homes like waves flattening sand castles.
